NY Export: Opus Jazz

| September 4, 2010

I’m obsessed with dance, especially NYC Ballet. Which is why I was so excited when they aired Opus Jazz on PBS… a remake of Jerome Robbins 1958 “Ballet in Sneakers”. Robbins is one of my all-time favorite choreographers- I could watch anything he choreographed 100 times over.

NYC Ballet is AMAZING. They have $12 student rush tickets available the day of each performance, which allowed me to see about 10 shows last season. Each show has about 3-4 different parts, all very different styles. It’s great for anyone who doesn’t have the patience to sit through a full length classical ballet. There is something for everyone to enjoy, and Lincoln Center is beautiful.

I can’t get the embed video to work, so here’s a link to an excerpt from the movie- it’s worth watching! Opus Jazz Excerpt
