The Future of the Internet?

Google Chrome + HTML5 = AWESOMENESS ²

I’m constantly amazed at how far we humans can push technology. When HTML5 was introduced a while back, I didn’t really pay much attention. Ok, maybe I scanned through a few articles that were singing it praises and thought “wow, cool new features”. But then I promptly forgot about its existence. Until tonight when I watched the new OK Go interactive music video. It is so innovative, and I think this is going to force a change in how we design and create web content. It’s always a struggle to create content that will engage your audience, and with HTML5 you can push the envelope further than ever. It will be interesting to see how people start to utilize it in the next few months, and how it will evolve.

Another site that I found to be really cool / slightly unnerving (you have to try it to know what I’m referring to)- The Wilderness Downtown, music video for Arcade Fire. It’s a personalized video… and that’s all I can say without giving it away.

After experiencing these videos/sites, I stumbled upon Chrome Experiments, and proceeded to waste a few hours exploring some of the experiments people have created using a combination of HTML5, Javascript, Canvas, etc. If this is the future of web, Flash will be totally obsolete in a few years. (Once again, Apple is ahead of the game) Below are some of my favorites.
